Everyone is special, and everyone deserves to be treated that way. Every Child Is Special is a book that will help children's self-esteem. Every Child Is Special (ECIS) was written by Dr. Thomas Goulston and Sandra Blakeslee in 1998, and the book tells the story of a young girl who finds herself in an exciting new world when her family moves from China to America. All their lives, they had been told they were special, but when it came to this new country where so many people wanted them dead, she began to wonder if she was even one of those special children anymore. She was having a hard time making new friends at school, and her fears grew. All she wanted was to fit in. The story begins with the family getting off the plane, being greeted by so many Americans ready to kill them. This causes the young child to fear, wonder about her own specialness, if everyone else around her is superior because they are white. She feels inferior to the people around them because they are "special" and she is not. The fear of being different can be devastating for a child who learns that being different makes them not special at all. The book explains the difference between being different and being inferior. It teaches that we should embrace our differences and not be ashamed, while also learning that we need to respect other people while we are doing it. The book was created for children who feel like they don't fit in, and it teaches them to love themselves regardless of their circumstances. Their story is one of the many stories of children who learn to accept reality and realize that everyone will be treated differently regardless of race or nationality.Every Child Is Special (ECIS) was written in 1998 by Dr. Thomas Goulston and Sandra Blakeslee and published by Soul Mate Publishing, Inc. The book is now available in English, Spanish, Chinese, French, Russian and Japanese. It has been translated into 42 languages so far including Simplified Chinese which is the official language of the People's Republic of China. The book is now being used in many schools around the world to help children with self-esteem issues. Parents are invited to read the book with their children to help them understand that they are "special" without right or wrong. ECIS was one of several books to be released by Soul Mate Publishing at the same time as the film version by Disney Films "Finding Neverland". Most editions include a link or reference to watch the film online. The book has been used as a tool and resource for educators and parents to use to teach children on issues of "differences, acceptance and equality". ECIS was selected as one of the "Books R Us 100 Best Children's Books of All Time" for 2004. Every Child Is Special (ECIS) entered the US National Film Registry as a nominee in 2017. The National Film Registry is an archive of America’s most cherished cinematic treasures – films that have made a cultural impact through bygone productions, classic art house efforts, and contemporary blockbusters – all “recognized for their cultural or aesthetic significance. cfa1e77820
